Verifying Your Address

After you download and install DNS4Me you can double-check that your domain points to your IP address. This can be a valuable troubleshooting tool. If someone is unable to connect to your site you can eliminate DNS4Me as the problem by following these steps.

First, ping your domain name. This involves opening a DOS window on a computer and type in Ping and then your domain name. This lets you know what IP address the domain is currently pointed to.

Make sure this IP address matches your current IP address.

If you are unsure what your current IP address is, open a web browser and visit http://www.whatismyip.com This will tell you what your current IP address is.

As long as the two IP addresses match, there should not be any problem with DNS4Me.
